NyRIM/DCPD/RRIM

Innovative materials for tomorrow's mobility

Product information

Whether extreme impact resistance, maximum design freedom, or maximum process reliability—modern plastics technologies such as NyRIM, DCPD, and RRIM are setting new standards in the manufacture of sophisticated components.
These processes enable the cost-effective production of lightweight, robust, and functional components for automotive, commercial vehicles, mechanical engineering, and more.

NyRIM/DCPD/RRIM

NyRIM

Nylon Reinforced Reaction Injection Molding (NyRIM) is a specialized high-temperature RIM process for processing caprolactam, the monomer of polyamide 6 (PA6).

Key Features – NyRIM

  • Excellent impact resistance, even at -40 °C
  • Wide operating temperature range: -50 °C to 140 °C (up to 180 °C short-term)
  • Good chemical and abrasion resistance
  • Recyclable: reprocessable with nearly identical properties
  • Low tooling costs due to low injection pressures
DCPD

In reaction process machinery, DCPD stands for dicyclopentadiene – a specialized monomer used in low-pressure RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) technology, particularly for producing large, structural components with high impact resistance and thermal stability.

Key Features – DCPD

  • Extremely impact-resistant – virtually unbreakable, even at -40 °C
  • Resistant to chemicals and corrosion
  • Short cycle times (4–6 minutes)
  • Low tooling costs due to low injection pressures
  • Excellent paintability for high-quality surfaces
RRIM

Reinforced Reaction Injection Molding (RRIM) is a process in reaction process machinery in which short fiber-reinforced polyurethanes are processed.

Key Features – RRIM

  • High stiffness and impact resistance through fiber reinforcement
  • Short cycle times – ideal for medium to high production volumes
  • Good dimensional stability and low deformation
  • Excellent surface quality – suitable for painting
  • Cost-effective tooling due to low process pressures
